This Brunswick stucco repaint covered the stucco walls, the stucco window and door trim, the kick plates on the front steps and the columns. Before any paint went on, our crew filled the hairline cracks with textured elastomeric caulk and matched the existing stucco texture on every repair.

Why the homeowner called
The homeowner stopped by our shop in Brunswick and asked for an estimate to pressure wash the house, repair a few spots on the stucco and repaint the exterior. He doesn’t use email, so our estimator went over the estimate with him in person at the appointment, and we delivered a paper copy. He approved it by phone and asked us to start as soon as we could.
What we did
- Pressure washed the entire exterior, including the vinyl soffits and gutters, with a chlorine solution to remove loose paint, stains, dirt and mildew, and cleaned the glass to prevent water spots
- Removed all of the downspouts
- Filled the hairline cracks with textured elastomeric caulk
- Applied stucco texture matched to the existing texture on every repair
- Applied one coat of Sherwin-Williams Loxon Conditioner
- Applied two coats of Loxon XP matched to the existing color
- Re-installed the downspouts
- Columns: scraped loose paint, sanded smooth, caulked cracks, spot primed and applied two coats of 100% acrylic latex
Taking the downspouts off lets the crew coat the stucco behind them instead of painting around them. If you are wondering why washing comes first, read why we wash before we paint.
Products in this Brunswick stucco repaint
Ordinary caulk leaves a smooth patch that shows through paint on textured stucco, so we used a textured elastomeric caulk and matched the surrounding texture before painting. Loxon Conditioner is a masonry primer that binds and seals the surface, and Loxon XP is Sherwin-Williams’ masonry coating made for stucco. See more about our stucco repair and painting.
The result
The stucco walls, trim, step kick plates and columns are repainted in their original colors, the hairline cracks are filled and textured to match, and the downspouts are back in place.
