You've unpacked enough to know what you'd change. The trim color. The cabinets. That wallpaper in the back bedroom. We've been finishing homes on these islands since 1986.
The first few months are when you actually see the house.
Which rooms you use. What you stopped noticing at the walkthrough, and what you can't stop noticing now.

The first year
A few weeks in, you've seen the rooms at every hour and figured out where you actually spend time. That's better information than any buyer has on walkthrough day — and it makes for better decisions about color and scope.
Rooms that aren't fully set up are far easier to work in than rooms that are. If the guest room, office, or dining room hasn't found its furniture yet, that's the room to do first.
Most people who plan to repaint after they settle in are still looking at the same trim three years later. Handling it in the first year is how it actually gets done.
What new neighbors ask us for
Four decades of work on St. Simons, Sea Island, and Jekyll — with our own employees, never subcontracted crews.
Room by room or whole house — color changes, wallpaper removal, and stain-to-paint conversion on dated oak trim and doors.
Kitchen and bath cabinetry refinished in place, usually in under a week — a fraction of the cost and disruption of replacement.
Popcorn ceiling removal finished smooth, plus drywall repair, texture matching, and water damage restoration.
Pressure washing, wood rot and trim replacement, full exterior repaints, decks, docks, and coastal wood finishing.

A great experience with our painters. Professional, respectful of our home, and detail-oriented throughout. They took time to prep the space properly, handled wall repairs smoothly, and the finish came out clean and even with crisp lines.
In my 40-plus years on St. Simons Island I've owned two houses with wood siding, both needing regular exterior painting, and I've used several painters over the years. D&D was by far the best job — high quality work.
Excellent from start to finish. They pressure washed and scraped the house before painting to remove debris and loose paint, and all exterior trim and fascia was painted. The crew was professional and on time each day, and cleaned up at the end of every workday.
